Saffron & Zoe, post-nap. |
Funny, but not his best. |
John had to go out of town this week, so it was Saffy and I alone for the first time. To be honest, I was scared. Scared of what? No help? Exhausting myself? I know plenty of people with two babies that seem to have boundless energy. But until Saffy can sleep through the night, this daddy is always tired. People keep telling me "sleep when she sleeps", but that's much easier said than done. She may take a 1 to 5 hour naps, but the moment I shut my eyes, hers inevitably open (it must be that close, psychic bond we share - guess the reference).
Still listening... |
We spent the week watching movies, listening to audiobooks, and playing with toys. We both had colds and stayed in our PJ's all day long. We never even left the house.
Meanwhile, the cats have become increasingly jealous of the baby. One has resorted to urinating in Saffy's pack 'n' play in the living room, and the others refuse to move out of your place on the couch where you intend to feed the baby. After the last incident of "let's pee all over Saffy's stuff", I became enraged and banned them from the living room. I had to put up two baby gates, one on top of the other, in two doorways to keep them out. It's not pretty or convenient, but hey, it works. Now the three cats just stare at us through the French doors of the living room. And they are pissed.
Things Saffy is doing:
- Slowly moving around in her walker.
- She knows that both iPhones (black and white) are cameras & stops doing whatever you want to capture.
- Cooing and babbling (unless a camera is around).
- Laughing and starting to become ticklish.
- And what can only be described as a "hunger-tantrum". This is the stiffening of the body and/or arching of the back, arms flailing, and screaming and crying (sometimes with real tears!) when she's hungry or, more often, when she needs a burping midway through a bottle.
I know you're taking my picture! |
