10 Months

Happy Holidays!

Saffy's a walking maniac...  You know that feeling you get when someone enters the room when you're not looking?  Well we get that all. the. time.  New sounds, babbling, mimicry, finger-crossing (I don't know where she learned that), the transition from bottle to sippy-cup, and a plethora of new and delicious finger-foods are just a few of the new things going on in our home.  Time really flies by!  Meanwhile, someone really hates having to get bundled up just to go outside (we all do, but she hates it more).

Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

TRYTOPHANTASTIC!!!
To our Canadian friends, we hope you enjoyed yours last month; to our Australian friends, according to Wikipedia, you don't have a holiday in November (what's up with that?), so I hope you're able to get a long weekend before the summer holidays; the same goes to our friends in the U.K. but change that to "winter" holidays; and lastly to our Indian friends (we hope you had a happy Diwali earlier this month).

Today is a day for giving thanks, so in our hearts we thank our surrogate, egg donor, and everyone who helped us become a family and to those cheering us along from the sidelines!  In the U.S. we celebrate by eating (overeating) a turkey dinner and watching American football (although  we watch movies instead of sports in this house).  So without further adieu...

9 Months!

Time goes by so quickly!  Our little girl is already beginning to stand on her own: no couch or toys to assist her!  I feel that she may be walking (or at least taking a few steps here and there) by Thanksgiving (Nov. 28th).  Not much is new since Halloween.  This daddy got a cold, then gave it to Saffy - but we're both on the mend.  Till next time...

8 Months & Ready for Halloween!

Not a big update: tooth #2 is just starting to poke through; Saffron's able to stand on her own (well, for 5 seconds); and crawling so fast - blink, and you'll miss her!  We've also started the task of baby-proofing the house.  Gates & locks galore!

I'm so excited for Halloween.  We live in a pretty rural area, with no immediate neighbors to trick or treat at.  Plus, she's a baby, so the candy would be for daddies anyway.  So Halloween is all about dressing up.  I've gone a little overboard and have bought waaaay more Halloween pajamas than any child needs, but so what?  Fall is in full-force in New England, so when the weather permits, we'll take a picture of her in her costume.  For now, I leave you with pajamas:

7 Months!

Hard to believe that at six months old, Saffron was sitting up, pulling herself up to standing, and (very recently) crawling!  Oh, and we have a tooth!  Today marks her seven month birthday: time to really get on the baby-proofing.  Little miss has started to open cabinets and drawers and reach for, well, pretty much everything.  What does month seven have in store?

Last month we took a trip to California to see family and go to Disneyland.

OMG, you were born there!

Back home from a red-eye & jet-lagged...

Saffy was an angel on both flights; never cried once!

Fall has come a bit early in New England, and there's a chill in the air.  That means no more dresses - time to bundle up.  And it also means Halloween is coming soon!

Big enough to ride in the carts now.
And lastly, some videos:

Don't worry, we've lowered the mattress.

Crawl, baby, crawl!

Until next time...

Celebrating Milestones: 6 Months & 15 Years!

Everyday I wake up, and look at our daughter and think of what a little miracle she is.  I sometimes think, how can I love another human being as much as her?  It's hard to believe that she is now six months old!  She sits up, stands for brief amounts of time when you stand her up, and smiles and laughs A LOT!
Half a year ago we were in India waiting for her arrival, getting attacked by dogs, getting McDonald's and Pizza Hut delivered, meeting great people, and exploring how life is in Kailash Colony.   We lived in an apartment for a month, and it changed us.  We actually find ourselves missing Delhi more often than you would think (though we are grateful we weren't there in the summer months).  There is a living, breathing magic there; everything is real and true.  Sure there is extreme poverty, con-artists and swindlers; but you know them when you see them.  You know when you're being taken for a ride.  And unfortunately, we had to deal with power-hungry, corrupt people in certain places (Ice-Queen and her minions).  It's an experience we'll never forget and hope to one day have again.

This past July, we celebrated our 15th anniversary together.  In 15 years we've managed to move across the country, get married, and have a baby:  things we really never dreamed were possible in the beginning.

Coming soon:  Baby's first holiday (or; in six months of life, I've traveled 3/4 of the way  around the planet)!
I'm goin' to Disneyland!
